At Cottesmore, technology is not simply something pupils use, it is something they create with.
In our senior year groups, every pupil is issued with a Chromebook, giving them seamless access to collaborative tools, structured assignments and secure cloud-based learning. Across the school, pupils develop strong digital literacy skills, learning to research effectively, work collaboratively and communicate responsibly, all within a carefully managed and safeguarded environment.
Creativity and innovation sit at the heart of our IT provision. Pupils design and produce their own models using our 3D printers, bringing ideas from concept to physical reality, while developing problem-solving and engineering skills. Coding forms a core part of the curriculum through CodeCombat, where pupils learn to programme in Python, building real-world computational thinking skills through engaging, game-based challenges that encourage resilience and logical reasoning.
We are also proud to offer a structured esports programme, competing against schools nationally and internationally in supervised events such as Rocket League, Minecraft Capture the Flag and Brawl Stars. These competitions promote teamwork, strategy, leadership and sportsmanship. Throughout all digital activities, safeguarding remains paramount, with robust filtering, monitoring and clear acceptable use expectations in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025), ensuring pupils learn, compete and create safely and responsibly.
