Arts

The Art department aims to stimulate and maintain pupil curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Art.

We enable pupils to be familiar with a body of artistic knowledge, skills, principles and vocabulary by creating compositions and “works of Art”, as well as responding to works produced by others.

Art is promoted as a major cultural feature and pupils are encouraged to work both independently and co-operatively.  At Cottesmore we feel it is important that all pupils have equal access to Art and experience success and enjoyment in their work, which is achieved by excellent teaching methods and resources.

Pupils develop an awareness of the implications and significance of Art as an important, pleasurable and fundamental part of life.  Pupils are encouraged to approach tasks through research and development and prepare them for the possibility of achieving Art Scholarships to Public Schools.
