The Modern Languages department teaches French across the age and ability range to CE and PSS. We also teach Spanish, Russian, German and Mandarin using native qualified teachers for those pupils who require it.
We have a multi-sensory approach based on the award winning Équipe course supplemented by authentic texts, satellite broadcasts, internet and ICT based activities and using the resources within the school of our French speaking pupils.
The MFL department is staffed by two experienced colleagues, both of whom have lived in France and speak fluently. Our success in the last decade has been based on setting high standards, using modern resources to motivate and interest our pupils and taking all of Year 7 to France for a residential trip every year.
French is a popular subject with Cottesmorians as it relates to their daily lives through the topics chosen for study and the feedback from the range of Public Schools that we serve is very positive.
