Message from the Pre-prep Head

The path to a happy and successful school life begins at Cottesmore Pre-Prep.

Deputy Head, Marion Macdonald, with some of the Pre-Prep children.

Cottesmore now offers a pre-preparatory department for girls and boys between the ages of four to eight years. It was founded in 2009 with just ten pupils and is based in an annexe alongside the main school. With ever increasing numbers, it is a flourishing part of the Cottesmore community.

Small class sizes enable our lively, energetic teachers to quickly form close relationships with children and parents. The broad curriculum offers children the opportunity to develop interests in a wide variety of subjects and to begin taking important steps to developing self-esteem and confidence in their ability to learn.

Cottesmore Pre-Prep is a place where children race to their classrooms each morning ready to greet their teacher, their friends and to start the day with a wealth of creative possibilities and challenges. A love of learning and an enthusiasm for challenges produces confident, highly motivated pupils who arrive every morning with a smile. It has been known that they even count the days off in the holidays until it is time to come back to school!

The children spend their days in well-equipped, bright classrooms or enjoying the extensive grounds that Cottesmore has to offer. A large playground ensures that every child has the opportunity to have fun whatever their preference. If children are happy and feel secure in a stimulating and active environment they are more likely to embrace the challenges and possibilities that a school like Cottesmore has to offer. A high staff pupil ratio (an maximum of 14 children per class) ensures that from entry at 4 years of age, every child is nurtured and that their individuality is valued as they embrace, over time, consideration for others, self discipline, honesty and a desire to learn. Children leave the Pre-Prep at the end of Year 3 as we believe that moving into the Prep School is a big step and some 7 year olds might not be ready for it at the end of Year 2. Therefore by moving up at 8 years old, the children enjoy an extra nurturing year.

We would be delighted to show you the school - please call us on 01293 520648 to arrange a visit.
