Easter Term 2009 - Week 9

An excellent week at Cottesmore has been had! We have received the fantastic news that 3 of our children have received scholarships to their intended schools, one of them being a top academic one, 2 children have received foundation awards and all the other scholarship candidates received places for September. Well done everyone!!

The rest of the school has been working hard too, especially on the sports field. The girls continued their unbeaten netball term with a win on Wednesday against Hurstpierpoint, 44-14, and on Saturday against Cranleigh Prep the score was 35-13. The U11 girls hockey team also won against Cranleigh 2-0 – well done girls!

The boys have also being doing a fantastic job on the hockey field. The 1st’s won 9-0 against Copthorne and the 2nd’s won 3-0. The Colts A team were in a triangular match where they won 1 match but lost 2.

There are lots of matches this week to finish up the hockey and netball seasons. On Wednesday two girls teams are at home against Handcross Park and two boys teams are away at Great Walstead. Then on Saturday we have two mixed hockey matches against Stoke Brunswick at home – definitely something to come and watch!

Last Friday we celebrated Comic Relief by all wearing our pyjamas to school – children and staff! We raised over £200 which I am sure will be greatly appreciated wherever it is spent.

This week is World Awareness Week and we have chosen to look at South America. All lessons are being based around the countries and their cultures which will give a broad insight to the children. We have a visiting speaker, Luke Cunliffe, coming in on Wednesday to talk about the marathon that he ran in the Amazon!

We also have the Carson Cup taking place on Thursday where every child in the school runs about ½ mile – there are three cups to be won so it does tend to get rather competitive!
Please send us your comments about our website. It's brand new and we'd love to know what you think!
