Winter Term 2010 - Newsletter 3

We have had a very busy three weeks since Half Term. On Saturday 6th November we hosted a Bonfire Night. It was a fantastic evening with an enormous bonfire down at the lake, followed by a wonderful display of fireworks during which the adult contingent sipped on warming mulled wine. Austin and his team cooked up a delicious BBQ which then rolled seemlessly into a barn dance. The band, comprising of Mr Rogerson, Miss MacDonald, Mr Kelly and Miss C, with Mrs Dolman doing the 'calling;, whipped up everyone into a dancing frenzy - young and old took part in a variety of set-piece dances. The finale was rousing renditions of 'Dancing in the Moonlight' and 'American Pie' sung by Mr Rogerson, after which all the children went inside for hot chocolate and then to bed - happy but exhausted.

We have had a number of football, hockey and netball matches, with successful results for many of the teams. There were tough matches against Cumnor House, Lancing Prep - all three of the Colts teams winning - and Pennthorpe where the 3rd XI had a dramatic 3-2 win to finish off their season. There has also been a swimming gala and a golf match this week. The rugby training has started and our first fixture at the beginning of December is greatly anticipated by both the boys and Mr Hopkins!

Now that exams have finished, the rehearsals for 'The Sound of (Soul) Music' have become the main focus of the day. This week sees all the dress and technical rehersals taking place with the final performances happening on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon - we can't wait!

On Friday Mr Nicholas is going to be talking to the Seniors' parents and guardians about Scuba Diving next term. And on Saturday we have our Christmas Fayre, in aid of Children with Leukaemia, from 11am until 2pm - do come along!

Please send us your comments about our website. It's brand new and we'd love to know what you think!
