Easter Term 2010 - Newsletter 2

We've had a great week over the last 7 days.

There were matches last Wednesday against Handcross Park for three rugby teams. The 1st XV were unlucky and were just beaten for the first time this season but the Colts A won and the Under 9's both won convincingly. The girls also played some excellent matches against Ardingly with the 1st team winning 12 - 7.

Saturday saw rugby matches against Great Walstead and the girls taking part in a netball tournament at Windlesham. The 1st XV returned to their winning form with a score of 17 - 15. The Under 9's played a game of tag rugby, as the ground was deemed to be too hard, and they managed a draw. The girls did incredibly well at their tournament. They came 3rd overall and Sophia Weighill was named 'man of the tournament' and was presented with a special sheild.

On Sunday, Mr Rogerson took a group of boys to the DT room to make boats. They then went down to the lake to test if their boats would sail. After breaking the ice, almost all of them sailed! On Sunday evening we welcomed Mr Mark Boobbyer, a Housemaster and Assistant Lay Chaplain of Wellington College, to preach on Sunday. He told a great story about his son's bagpipes having to be destroyed in a controlled explosion at an airport! It lead into his lesson about the importance of needing everyone around us to make Cottemore such a special place.

This coming week we have many matches to play. On Monday there is a squash match against Brambletye. On Wednesday there are rugby matches against Cumnor and Ardingly and netball against Cumnor and Cranleigh. On Saturday there is rugby against Ashdown house and netball, again, against Cumnor.

We also have the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge for our top year and the IAPS regional swimming heats on Thursday.

Lots to keep everyone busy!
